Miso soup with Seta shijimi clams

This is miso soup with Seta shijimi clams. The Seta clam is an endemic species living only in Lake Biwa.

It lives in Lake Biwa from shallow waters to depths of more than a dozen meters, and is said to have a thicker shell and richer flesh than the Yamato Shijimi clam, which lives in brackish water.

Here, the shell of the clam is used as a large design motif, and the gold-colored paper gives it a luxurious look that shines even from a distance.
