The Shiga Chair Project is an attempt to make chairs with the aim of reusing withered oak wood from Shiga Prefecture.

Withered oak is spreading all over Japan, but it is being used as firewood because of its low value.
We thought we could make a chair out of this wood and use it for a long time.

I designed an armchair to be the first chair in the series.

The chair is designed to have a basic design that won’t get old, with softness in the parts that touch people’s hands and sharpness in the rest of the chair.

It is designed to fit easily into Japanese life, with a slightly smaller footprint, so women can sit in it easily.
